laughter

My laugh always
surprises me:

Its rise in pitch,
slowly, but not
steady,
until it hits a
confused apex.

Its full voice,
which seems
funnier than
necessary.

I can hear it above
the coffee drinkers,
cigarette smokers,
flirtatious students.

I continue to
listen;
continue to
hear;
this,
my friend.

Yes, it is a friend.

Interesting topic - to write about your own laughter. Think this is the first time I have read something on this.

Ooh, quite an ingenious way of describing laughter, rendering it as your very own. ^_^ I had a grin on my face while envisioning the nuances of the sound. Heehee.

Warm. Wonderful. Classic. One of your best! Especially, I love the line "confused apex." Great!
